The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) have together established a Joint Center for Translational Medicine, with the aim of facilitating development of new clinical therapies. Researchers at these institutions are working to ameliorate or cure the debilitating ailments that plague the lives of millions of people around the world. By combining the strengths of two great institutions, the Center will facilitate translation of basic science advances into the clinical arena.

Initial 2-year funding of $5 million dollars for this effort was generously provided by the Eli and Edythe Broad Foundations. The Center is administered by the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California.

Mission Statement

We are dedicated to creating new modalities of therapy that arise from basic research laboratories and are applied to outstanding medical problems. We are bringing together strengths inherent in institutions resident in the Los Angeles basin to realize this goal.
